Zachary Lammers Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship has been established to commemorate Zack Lammers, an LTHS Class of 2005 alumnus, who at age 27 tragically died from an accidental fall on August 4, 2014. He left an incredible legacy at LTHS, both academically and athletically, as well as one of giving back to the school and community that supported him in his youth. Zack is remembered, loved, and missed by so many.

A gifted student-athlete who graduated at the top of his class, Zack was a shining force both in the classroom and on the athletic field. His academic accolades include having been an Illinois State Scholar, Top Ten Percent member (4.6 GPA), and included in the Who’s Who Among American High School Students. Zack suffered several injuries while participating in sports and overcame these adversities. He continued to excel by becoming a three-time State Champion – football in 2002 and 2003, and in baseball in 2005.

Zack’s childhood dream of attending an Ivy League school while continuing to play football became a reality when he earned early admission and was recruited to play football at Brown University in Providence, RI. That first season he became a member of the 2005 Football Ivy League Championship team, Brown’s first ever championship. After graduating in 2009 with a degree in Economics, Zack began a career in the financial industry, first working in New York for MISYS as a Professional Services Consultant, then in Chicago for BMO Financial Group as a Senior Operations Specialist, Project Delivery.

Above all, Zack was an exceptional leader in every sense of the word, who led by example with integrity and character, exemplified passion, dedication and perseverance, all while treating everyone with respect and admiration. Zack set a standard for everyone around him in the way he lived his life and by his favorite saying “you gotta have commitment in life with both feet in – 2FeetIn.” The recipients of the Zachary Lammers Memorial Scholarship will embody all of these characteristics.
